Living on the fringes of the Lake District means that it's always easy to get out for an excellent day's walk, and often it's worth staying out overnight and simply covering more and more ground. Whenever walks are being checked in the Lake District, the information is quickly used in a variety of magazines or websites. When Terry Marsh was doing some editorial work for Dalesman and asked for two small volumes covering walks all over the Lake District, they were delivered in a matter of weeks. The line dividing one volume from the other is basically drawn from Bassenthwaite Lake, through Keswick, over Dunmail Raise to Grasmere and Ambleside, then along the length of Windermere. There are 35 walks in each volume, and both are divided into 13 convenient areas. A mere selection from hundreds of Lake District walking routes that have been written over the years.
